Horst Wildemann studied mechanical engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) and business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) in Aachen and Cologne. After several years of practical work as an engineer in the automotive industry, he obtained his doctorate in 1974. This was followed by periods abroad at the International Management Institute in Brussels and at American universities. In 1980, he habilitated at the University of Cologne (Dr. habil.). Since 1980 he has taught as a full professor of business administration at the Universities of Bayreuth and Passau and since 1989 at the Technical University of Munich. He has been appointed to the Universities of Stuttgart Hohenheim and Dortmund, the Free and Technical University of Berlin, the University of Southern California, the University of Indianapolis and the University of St. Gallen.

In addition to his teaching activities, Prof. Wildemann runs a consulting institute for corporate planning and logistics. In 40 books and over 700 essays, which have been written in close contact with practitioners, he has shown new ways of economically shaping sustainable companies. Professor Wildemann works for leading industrial companies as a consultant, supervisory board member and advisory board member. Horst Wildemann has been organizing the Münchener Management Kolloquium (MMK) Germany’s largest business congress, every year since 1992. He has been awarded the State Medal of the Free State of Bavaria, the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Klagenfurt, Passau, Cottbus and Hamburg. Horst Wildemann is the founder of the Bavarian Quality Award, was inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame in 2004 and received the badge of honor of the German Logistics Association in 2008.
